"Name the Police Horse" Contest Underway
The two new police horses are still being called "Number One" and "Number Two" by the mounted officers. They need names, and all of the elementary schools in the Niagara Region have been invited to participate in a contest to come up with good names for the new horses!!

Welcome to the official website of the Friends of Niagara’s Mounted Police (FNMP), a registered non-profit organization dedicated to the support of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Mounted Unit in Ontario, Canada.

The FNMP is a body of community-minded citizens who understand the role of good community policing through innovative methods, and who believe that mounted police officers are a valuable and desirable asset to any police service.

The Mounted Unit's two newly acquired Percheron horses stand at the fence as two quarterhorses look on from behind.
"Sonny" (far left) was used by Constable Dersken for five years before the unit was authorized to replace them with commercial-grade horses. More photos coming soon on the new horses!
