The
Savvy System of Natural Horsemanship is a complete system that horse
trainer Pat Parelli of Colorado has been developing over the past
20 years. It is the result of his personal study of how to effectively
teach people to savvy horses. It is the official method of training
used by the NRP Mounted Unit.

Constable
Ron Derksen demonstrates
the "savvy" way to mount a horse.
By ensuring that both the horses and the officers
engage in the practice of natural horsemanship, it is unnecessary
to use "traditional" methods of control, such as mechanical
means, restraints, and other forceful methods.
The
Savvy System captures Pat's unique methodology of horsemanship,
resulting in a balance of fun, excellence, truth and results. Mountains
of information and experience that Pat has learned from some of
the greatest masters in natural horsemanship, have been organized
into an easy to follow, educational system. Pat has created a map
to follow in a results-oriented format that is helping people successfully
achieve the things Pat achieved on his development path in a fraction
of the time!
This program is firstly about self development. The
first three levels are designed specifically to teach the human
and can be studied through Pat's Savvy Sytem. After Level 3 Refinement,
the program is more about teaching horses: performance, difficult
horses, colt starting, etc. This is when it becomes much more detailed
and intense so hands-on teaching is essential.
In all, there are 10 levels that lead to mastery.
How much savvy you want to have is up to you and the goals and dreams
you have in mind.
