The NRPS introduced mounted officers to its ceremonial Colour Guard in the spring of 2003. The officers attend parades, ceremonies, and special events. With a peninsula full of tourist attractions, parks, and an ever-growing list of festivals and parades, we feel that the citizens and visitors of the Niagara Region benefit immensely from a mounted police presence. The officers also help to fulfil the NRPS commitment to community policing and education by appearing at schools and other institutions across the Niagara Region.

Due to budgetary challenges, the mounted police officers are not funded with tax dollars. Instead, the officers volunteer their time and their horses to bring mounted police to the Niagara Region. They train during off-duty hours, and, for equipment and operating costs, are dependent upon the kind and generous support of the horse-loving public.

To facilitate this support, we have formed a group of community-minded citizens called the Friends of Niagara’s Mounted Police. The Friends assist the mounted officers by helping to raise the funds necessary for special equipment and to help offset operating costs.

Please visit the donation page of our website and consider helping out the mounted officers. Any support that you can provide to them through the Friends of Niagara’s Mounted Police would be greatly needed and appreciated. Donors will received a handsome certificate suitable for framing, a tax-deductible receipt, and will be listed on this website.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at info@fnmp.org or write at our address listed on the Contact Us page.

Let’s keep our mounted officers in the saddle!
